Room Inspirations - What’s on our moodboards

As we settle into the New Year, we draw inspirations from past and present.
Looking back at the C&R archive, we find a constant rhythm to our designs. We are never far from joyous reds, striking stripes and faded florals. Layering in the colder months and de cluttering in the summer.

Along the way, whether it be in our homes or to make dresses and coats, there has always been Tartan. We have recently introduced upholstery weight Moon Tartan Wools to our fabric by the metre collection. The C&R classic, Royal Stewart Tartan Wool and Rob Roy Red Tartan are old time favourites. A smart yet joyous choice for an upholstered chair or ottoman. Or perhaps Sage & Red Tartans for a sitting room curtain, cosy and warming for winter days.

Looking back to our roots, there is always an anchor in our florals. The use of nature and colour to lift ones spirit whether it be through dresses, curtains or tablecloths. The romance of florals within a room always makes us content. We love to balance feminine with masculine, and draw from colours used in our prints to find flourishes to tie a room together.

For each floral fabric, we always recommend complimenting with a stripe or smaller print, or both. Think curtain linings, cushions. Whenever we include stripes, they will hold their own in an understated manner, balancing the sweetness of florals.

And not forgetting, our recently launched Wallpaper collection with over 50 prints & colours. We design colourways to sit together, from pinks and raspberry's to French blue and charcoal.
The rolls are printed to order in the North of England, therefore it is a zero waste collection with so much versatility in the range. Made from non woven recycled paper and printed with fade proof inks, they are environmentally friendly. We are very proud of our new collection and we can’t wait to see them within your homes.

A perfect opportunity to match your walls with your windows, we offer fabrics and wallpapers in the same print with the colourways designed to sit together, generally with a more gentle palette for the larger wall spaces which are elevated with a slightly more saturated colour in our textiles.

A bold choice of charcoals and reds with our toiles and tartans work to make a smart & contemporary room. The Toile de Poulet always works well with an assortment of colours and prints. French Toile - arrestingly pretty yet somehow demure.

A 3rd layer of tartan, iconic and bold, layering with texture and warmth.

French Blues and teals, can be mixed and matched. They also lend themselves to hints of charcoal and neutral fabrics.

Collecting treasures along the way, we always find inspiration. Whether it be a wrapping paper, a postcard or the typewrite on a book.

There is a thrill in making changes within a room or home, but of course this can come from a new tablecloth or cushion cover or changing your furniture around. But when the time comes for change, we hope you can choose carefully, looking for long-lasting quality and thinking of the planet.
